The City of Saint Paul, Minnesota passed a revised tree cutting ordinance on November 9th, that requires all companies trimming or cutting down trees to have a certified arborist on on their staff. There are a few other changes, such as updating insurance requirements, etc. in order to get a license ($178 / year). Changes should take effect early in 2012.

A couple of local tree services objected, claiming that it was an unnecessary requirement for routine trimming work and for experienced companies. The City estimates that 60-70 percent of the 66 companies currently licensed in Saint Paul have a certified arborist on staff.

Don't have much more information to answer questions. Thought you other guys might be interested in this type of development.

So an certified arborist on staff or does he have to be on site for the work? Otherwise you could find a meth head washed out certed guy and give him a job cleaning down your truck on friday afternoons.

When they publish it, could you send it to me? Going to forward it to my Mayor.
My son is going to school in Cold Springs. That Drive between St. Cloud and St. Paul/Minneapolis is like the Matrix! I have never seen such madness! La and DC don't have jack on that little section of highway! Going up on the 16th to get him for Christmas, this time I am taking my truck, feel a little safer than our mini van!

"Experienced", Yurrite! :hmm3grin2orange:

"I've been doin' this 30 years, don't nobody gotta tell me how" = 3 decades of mistakes

"Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges!" Remember, them bandidos wound up coyote food...Treasure of the Sierra Madre, Top 10 all-time flick.

That ordinance is like requiring managers to have a high school diploma. CA should be on site, if not in the tree.

I can't interpret how the law will be enforced - this was from an article published in a local paper (not on line) this week. Thought you guys would be interested. Could not find anything on the City website. Applies to anything over 2" diameter where cut. Check back on that link in a month or so to see if it is updated.
