I beleive in NJ new tax law that landscape services are taxed. I am not sure if this covers tree work as well. But most likely. Always got to get there hand in there.

As far as I have been told, in NY you can't charge tax for planting trees, removing them, or pruning them. Basically anything that can only be done once is not subject to sales tax. Any type of maintenance that can be done every year, or several times per year is taxable.

In WI, only things that are nessesary are not taxed. From what I can tell, snow removal is untaxed. All treework requires collecting sales tax.

It seems like most folks around here are just going by what they heard. Honestly, that's what I did too until today. But it wasn't that hard to find out. I wonder what other laws we're breaking without realizing it? (tho I was ok on sales tax, I'll bet some of us aren't!)

I put tax into the bid and a lady had the common reaction and ran me off the property. The she called the city, asking if it was taxable. She was told no.

Of course she had to call me and "Nya, nya you're wrong and probably cheating your clients"

"Call the county ma'am" I sez calmly

She had the courtisy to call back and appologize.

I still did not get the job, some nice boy from the city did it for half, and did not charge tax.

waking up in the morning is subject to tax in CT.
