At a time when practical chainsaws were becoming more readily available, the Sally Saw was rather doomed from the get go. Using the spike where possible would take some of the effort out of making a cut with it, but depending on where the limbs were that would not alway be possible. You can rotate the blade assembly much the way the bar can be rotated on many of the early two man saws to facilitate cutting limbs at odd angles.
