So far i've heard nothing but great things about the new rope. Strasser had nothing but good things to say about the new line. Frank Chipps as well had nice things to say, He actually broke the f/l record w/ this new line.

I also hear that Samson threw one heck of a party for all of the climber/ techs/ judges up in Pittsburgh Sunday night. Wish i could have been there. I'm glad someone believes in supporting the climbers, nice to see the co. willing to spend a little money.:)

'course, they'll make it back with the added sales from the publicity.

Good stuff, though.

I bought 150' of the Velocity, based on reading the specs, touching it, smelling it and tying with it. I love light lines because I throw the rope more than a throwline (after seeing Chisholm's break in the TCC I am even less sold on flinging).

Yes hospitality was really flowing in Pittsburgh; my head is still recovering from the shots fired down at closing time...Will it recover in time to go chase Charles? We'll see...

I have to say that the velocity is ****. I hate it. I need find a buyer for mine. It only has one climb. It may be OK for an ascention line. Maybe after it gets broken in and the **** wears off it will be OK.I guess only Nick and I can appreciate the new Yale line. I just can't enough good things aobut it. Maybe Samson threw a party too soon. They'll be wanting a pitty party next.

Mike please tell what I need to wash that wax out? I tried laundry detergent, bleach through a few cycles and trying to use it and its still waxy. The rope is a fine ascention line but its not good for comeing down. The cover is too independent of the core and really bunches under your knot. They were on the right track but I guess the guys testing it weren't real tree men. Would that be arbormaster? I wonder. Maybe it works good with a taughtline hitch or a blakes I don't want to find out. I have my superior rope of choice.

NOT BLEACH! NO, NO! Bad for rope. Bad John. You must now give me your Yale rope to get my approval.:D

So, ..., where does one get this super rope?

Jack

It's OK Jack. Even if the bleach would harm the rope no big loss. Don't run out and by a velocity yet. I think there may be some modifications being made and adjustments.

As for the new rope from Yale I don't have an answer on when. All I can say is that has been great.

Maybe we can start the bidding on this mystery Yale rope at $500.

Yikes, OK, $600. And that is as high as I'll allow you to pay me.:D

velocity

i climbed on the new velocity for two days and milked out 3 feet of cover. and know it seem to be fine to me.

I'll be interseted to see how this rope is accepted. Since the critics of the Fly diss it because of milking, it seems like the new kids have something to measure up to.

Unless the stickiness wears off or can be washed off that would be a big minus for me. The rope does have a nice hand.

Tom

I have gave the rope plenty of chances and must say I dont care for it one bit.Sticky ,bad on the hitch I will stay with the Fly.It is good for footlocking though.

Stickiness has not worn off so I'm washing it in gentle detergent tomorrow morning and hanging it to dry. If that stops it from sticking on the descent I may be quite happy with it.
