My modified Homelite C5 has 182/183 lbs compression and still runs great on regular grade gas...

Not sure of the acceptable high limit, compression wise (you don't want to go over a 14:1 compression ratio) not really sure if I did or not, but you don't want to because the engine starts losing power to keep the engine running ;)

Just a thought...

I have seen saws with 125 psi cranking compression (not too good, but still running) and have seen other saws hitting 215 psi (I think RBW's homelite from another post actually showed the gauge). I would say 160+ is optimal, 185+ is great, and over 200, well, that is amazing!

Now, if chainsaws only had power valves!

Danget, I'm only optimal, by a lousy 2/3 psi too :bang: and to think, I could have been great   Oh well considering a stock C5 is right around 125 lbs compression, I'de say that's not too bad for an old saw ;)
