I was just wondering if any members thought that the Stihl, and Husky manafactures may read this and other forums.Their is a lot of great feed back here. Maby we all may have a small impact! Ken

Don't count on it, they got their heads up their stink hole.

At the request of my service rep who put his tail on the line to try, I won't mention the brand, suffice to say its one of the big non Japanese brands.

He forwarded several suggestions I had to the factory engineers, he thought my ideas had enough merit to be at least considered. They responded to him not to bother them with ideas or suggestions from those dumb ass shop mechanics.

Seems if you have an idea that costs a few bucks per copy over the life of the production run you're a dumb ass. Quality control equals profit return not product quality or repairability.

I think they do see this, they proberbly do not read all the pissing matches, but I am sure they have an eye here.

I do believe that Mange's statement says it all.

I wonder what percentage of stihl and huskys money is made with pro grade gear, I would say they make more with the higher turnover of homeowner gear.
But the pro gear would be partly why the homeowner stuff sells so well, selling on the back of the pro gears reputation.

I know that Husqvarna spend a lot on developing. The Pro saws get most attension I think.
The semi pro and hobby saws have little new stuff.

The manufacturers have little or no interest on feedback from the
customers or dealers. The distributors might have a little input,
but I doubt much. The only one exception is the Ariens family, which is of course mainly mowers and snowblowers. I e-mailed
the Stens company, which is owned by Ariens, about the
foolishness of not selling Carlton .325 .063 ga in the full chisel,
even on the roll. I got an e-mail back from Dan Ariens, and they
then added the full chisel to their lineup. But I do not order much
because I will only order it prelooped, I have better things to do
than spend all my time looping chain.
But I go to the lawn and garden Expo every year, which is mainly populated by salesmen, but an engineer every now and
then, but they have no interest in talking about anything but
how great their product is.
The same is true with the updates and schools, which are
generally a waste of time

Bottom line, only one thing speaks to manufacturers besides sales numbers, that is the number of warranty claims paid.

Thereby, I incourage all warranty dealers to not overlook turning in claims promptly. Sometimes its easy to make minor adjustments or repairs for your customers and just shine it off as taking care of the customer. Don't, file that claim, don't let the manufacture off the hook by being a nice guy.
