I am new here. My questions are has anyone had any experience with john deere chainsaws for one. My other question is how will a husky 359 compare to a dolmar 6400 with the muffler opened up? I am going to buy a new saw, I work in excavation and we do a fair amount of tree work and my husky 350 is a little small, also has anybody done any muffler mods on 350's? Thanks for any input.

These saws are made by efco. Great saw quality product, but don't get much notice. I've got a cub cadet 5018 which is the same saw as the john deere cs52. It also happens to be about the same size as the 350 husky. Great saw but like you said you are looking for something larger. From my experience with that saw I would bet the larger john deere saws are of just the same quality. I don't think you could go wrong in that direction. However, I have heard that some JD dealers carry the saw line but don't much like working on them. So thinking about dealer support may be an issue

The 62cc version of the Efco/Oleomac/John Deere etc saws have a very good power to weight ratio, and those who have them seem to like them.

There has been complaints about the air filtration and the finish of these saws.

The Husky 359 does not compare very well to the PS-6400, even the 365 and 362xp (reported to be on the market again) are both lighter and slightly less powerful than the 6400.
