i was taking a top out today and it brushed a white pine, as i was looking it over to check for any damage i saw a screetch owl looking right back at me no more than 15 feet away i tried to get a picture but by the time i got the camera it took off but it was a beautiful bird

Very cool. We once rescued a couple of Owl chicks from a tree we were removing when I worked back in GA. We took them to a local nature center where they could rehab them.

Thats awesome! Its funny, cause a month ago I was bucking up a large hollow stick. I saw holes in the trunk and was checking my cuts for fur about half way through. My partner unfortunately cut a raccoon in half the week b4 :( being a nature lover, I was being extra cautious. Expecting a squirrel nest, I just happened not to have my ear plugs in on this cut, and I heard a "peep" over my saw. Rolled the log over and inside was a small eastern screech owl. They are amazing up close in the wild arent they?! The eyes are a indescribable shade of Dark Bright Yellow. We took pics with the iPhone, maybe ill post some pics. We put him down, and he got right up and flew away, no cuts!

yeah i know how that goes i cut right through a squirrel once, cut alot of trees though that have a hollow with some sort of nest and i feel kinda bad but tree's gotta come down

I made a cut on a limb onetime and left about a 6-8" stub to dress up. When I made my finish cut the stub hit the ground and a squirrel came scrambling out of it. How he avoided the chain I'll never know. I don't see how he could have possibly squeezed up tight enough to avoid it in that small of a stub but he did. Tripped me out!

Squirrels are crazy! Their like death defying arborist of the natural world. I have a whole new respect for them after being in this industry for a few years now ahaha.. Id be sick if I cut any furry critter in half! Not their fault they got their noodle rocked when we cut the tree down. Thats probably what scares them into staying IN the tree. Some just get lucky I guess..
