I just stumbled across this concept. Has anyone ever seen or used one of these things? They look like a horribly expensive and difficult machine to maintain.
It looks to me like it relies more on force than velocity to chip the wood. I'll bet it is a ***** to get cleared if you plug it up with an overload.
It reminds me of chainsaws in the old days, when gear reduction was considered the best way to force a chain through a cut. Velocity cuts better, I believe.
