When clicking on "Search the Forums" it all goes away and won't let me search. For that reason I have to post this question even though it has probably been covered before.
I have a couple of 90 to 100 foot Oak trees that I want to climb before a pipeline comes through my place with the bull dozers and I lose them. I am a beginning climber, but I am up to the task of climbing these trees. I have inspected them and the area and they look like they will be great for climbing.
Both these trees are about a half mile from the house, so as the insect world goes, they are in total wilderness.
I have no, or at least minimal, stinging insect phobia while on the ground, but I'm not quite sure how I will react if I encounter stinging insects while suspended. I plan on having a line I can use to tie in quickly if need be, or is that even a good idea?
What I'm looking for is any tips you can offer in finding bees and hornets in trees BEFORE the ascent. I already plan on using binoculars and plan on doing it at the end of the day because if they are like wasps they will gather at the nest more late in the day.
Thanks for any suggestions you can offer.
