Rick, sears.com parts look up for your model number shows the IPL and it identifies your saw as a 3.7/20" which is a Poulan 3700. It's a 61cc saw manufactured from 1980 through 1983. If you go to acresinternet.com chainsaw forum they have more information. Have you cut with this saw?

no i haven’t, my brother in law has had it for years and he just gave it to me because he didn’t want to mess with it. I got it running and tuned up, it runs real good. but i don’t know how old the chain is so as soon as i replace the chain and maybe flywheel ill start using it. why do you ask if i have cut with this saw?

The reason is that the air intake on the starter needs cleaning bad and I'll bet that the air filter needs cleaning. The chain looks to have plenty of cutter left, just needs sharpening, and you probably mean to check the sprocket not flywheel.

Looks like a nice saw - I have have owned several of them. Clean the air filter often, and keep the starter air slots clean.

Should be 3/8 chain on that saw....
