Security at my shop is really getting to be an issue now. EARLY Saturday morning a small tree was stolen from right out of the ground. Tonight around 9:00 PM I pulled into the parking lot, but didn't go around back. However when I pulled into the lot, a newer white blazer came speeding up the big ramp from around back and peeled out of the lot without so much as looking at me. I have never seen that car there before and I didn't catch the plates. The driver did not look like anybody I know either. I called one of the landlords and told him what I saw, he said that the car didn't ring any bells in his head as far as any employees or friends go. All I keep back there as far as outside goes is a trailer, plus stuff inside a locked garage. I think I need to get some kind of security system going because this is too much strange car activity and now with the theft...

Access to the parking lot itself is a pretty long area. However to get down below you would have to go down 1 of 2 ramps. To get down there any other way you would most likely need a bull dozer because there are lots of trees and a NASTY hill that goes around the whole area.

People are working there from 5:00 AM - at least 8:00 PM
Do you guys have any ideas?

Video Cameras make great evidence in court. Use the tape to make an example out of the next thief and make sure the local news and paper gets wind of it.

If that doesent work catch the next guy in the Bobcat grapple and take his butt for a bumpy ride down that hill! :blob2:

The guys have video cameras for the inside of the place. So I don't think it would be TOO bad to tie into the existing system, however there is a good amount of area to cover in order to record even vehicle types let alone plates. I would have to think that another 3 or 4 cameras would be required. I may actually take a ride over there now just to see if anything is getting stolen tonight :(

I would put a flimsy chain up that makes them stop at a set location, use a hidden video cam with motion detection wired to a vcr and you`ll have the plate# plus you`ll have them cutting the chain to get in.

Dogs might be an idea there Sonny. However there are a lot of people who are supposed to be there during the day. So to get a dog or two that doesn't like ANYBODY would be a problem when it came to letting them out. I would assume that one of those hidden fence things would work fine for containment?

hidden fence things.....

forget about the invisable fence.........
they're great until your dog figures out
that he can run thru at full speed and receive
a minimal shock. just ask my golden retriever "Harry".
he'd trade a little shock for the sweet taste of
freedom anyday......that's why we now have a fence.
budroe:cool:

Security won't be an issue much longer. I told 1 of the owners today that I will be moving out within the next few weeks. I will be keeping his account and 1 other owner's account for pay as we enjoy doing business with each other.
