I still waiting to see a Cadillac Escalade "pick-up" driving down the road with a load of firewood, or a refrigerator in the back.:)

Actually I have not seen one anywhere in the woods except on the main roads.

There were some deer hunters last year who had one. They stayed on the paved road, though. Didn't want to scratch it up I guess.

Most of the Escalades and Hummer H2s around here are running 18"-20" wheels and low profile tires. Many are lowered too. Not exactly firewood haulers. Though I will say their sound systems are louder than a chainsaw.

Or how about one of them Lincoln pick em ups?

Yesterday I followed a flatlander hauling a load of crap to the dump in his Avalanche. Had the tailgate down and could see all the way through to the driver's seat.. Must have been a lot of junk blowing into the interior.

Excellent design concept...

Hey Larry, I have seen some awful fancey rigs out on the FS roads in your neck of the woods.

lol:laugh:  that boom boom boom bong bong bong sound coming down the road you can hear them miles away

You are lucky. Most flat landers have no clue what a turn out is for.

I'm looking forward to an exciting summer. A bridge is to be replaced starting in July on the main route to Mt. St Helens. So, traffic will be detoured over a mostly paved one lane road with turnouts. It has some nice dropoffs into a river. We'll have log trucks and crummies on it along with the tourii. We have Darwin Award Nominated Crotch Rocketeers who love to hug the curves on that road. We average one death a year for them. Last year's award winner clipped his head on the mirror of an oncoming pickup and crashed into a rock wall. Many are injured in trying to win the Darwin. I'm wondering how they'll fare on the detour. I'm toying with the idea of painting arrows on the road and the word TURNOUT. We'll see. We get all the fancy cars and pickups on that road. Should be interesting!

No problem. Just put up big signs..."Yield to loggers"..."Loggers have right of way"..."Don't play chicken with the crummy"..."Faller's pickups have right of way after 1:30"...and the most important one..."If you have any questions, feel free to ask the nice lady in the white Forest Service pickup".

And she is armed with a chainsaw!

LOL, yep jokes. Up here we get a few, people move up (From away) buy a little seaside retreat, and figure they are in the wilds and need a 4wd. It's more the Mercedes crowd though SUV's. I have to say though, a guy down the road from me has a Merc Unimog. I'd love to have that babee for a firewooder! Must have 2 feet of clearance.

That would be too hard for the dog to jump into. :) One of the crews set up on the volcano road last year, discovered that more cars got out of the way of their crummy when the front bumper was all cattywumpus. They said cars just saw them behind and pulled right over. They had a very savvy hooktender/driver. He noticed that their Oregon license plates had expired so carefully bent them up so the tags were hidden so the boss wouldn't have to make an unexpected trip home for renewel. That worked too.

Operatic singers are apparently moving in trees that weigh a ton each. :) Gotta get going, the moneypit trailer/addition is getting a sample pulled off for demolition this morning. Tomorrow is the big day. There's an excavator sitting at the bottom of the road. I'll take some pictures.
