Wondering if anyone has ran one of the Shindaiwa 757 saws or had an opinion on these saws. Also who sells them at a good Internet price.
This is a fantastic Saw...Good Tourque..Runs right with my Sthil MS440 through anything up to the bigger hard woods.. I bought one recently for 65.00 at a pawn shop. Looked like hell. It had been dropped from a moving vehicle (so it seemed) as the crank case had a llot of abrasion on one side and the bar retaining cover was broke. A close inspection of the air filter (spotless) and the piston (flawless) was reason enough for me to purchase it... The boot on the carb had a crack in it and the left side crank case was cracked on the oil tank so I went to Parts tree and bought all the necessary parts... I buried the carlton bar into a Chinese elm stump and she did not disappoint! Good, even power right through that hardwood.. Doesn't rev quite as high as the 440, but made short work of the job with nary a sign of lag... The saw is a freaking Gem! The parts that I ordered from Parts Tree were Echo Part Numbers that replaced the Shindaiwa numbers. Parts Tree even had replacement Shindi Decals that make it look brand new.. This saw retailed for 1200.00 USD and I have a dealer 6 miles away.. Its a keeper..Wondering if anyone has ran one of the Shindaiwa 757 saws or had an opinion on these saws. I do not own one but I borrowed one from a friend to cut a 30” oak down. All I can say it melted through this tree like butter. I was very impressed. I had a 036 Stihl at the time and really liked. My friend came by and already had his saw in the truck so he said try it out.Wondering if anyone has ran one of the Shindaiwa 757 saws or had an opinion on these saws. I would pass on it. The 757 was a very good saw in it's day. Parts are hard to come by. A fuel cap is a discontinued part. I would go for a Husky 372. The 372 is everything a 757 is and more. One of these on Facebook Marketplace in Culpeper, VA for $650. Said to be "brand new." Hard to tell if it's new/never fueled from the pictures, but the bar doesn't appear to have ever cut wood.
