People getting messy at it. I came around a corner to find folks with kids all decked out in ear muffs and glasses pointing their pistols at a target which had they missed, had no backstop to stop it from coming my way. I had a discussion with them. At another spot which was a trailhead, I picked up enough empty shotgun shells to cover the bottom of the Costco Water box that was left behind, and then dug out a garbage bag and filled it up with the rest of the usual garbage--last year. It isn't just the shooters, but the bad shooters are a bit more dangerous than the run of the mill slobs that trash the woods. I see another restriction coming down.

Oh, and the fire near here that happened last May was caused by shooting one of those exploding targets.

Shooting safely seems to be lost on a lot of firearms enthusiast.
"Tread Lightly" and "Pack it in, Pack it Out" are two very simple rules to live by.

I always cringe when I see how irresponsible some shooters are as an avide shooter I take it personally that they're making me and other responsible shooters look bad. As for the mess I can't believe how many slobs are in our beautiful one

A whole bunch of people are just now realizing that they could loose their firearms and are snatching them up, and then taking the kids out for some plinking without any clue as to what they are doing... which on the one hand is great, but it can make life in the weeds a little bit interesting...:msp_unsure:

Had a very close call with that myself on my trapline in Oregon. I was making a set in a dog hair area and the bullets started whizzing by, one on each side of me. Yelled and hollered while making myself one with the earth. When I finally felt safe to move the shooters had left.

I had a crazy one last fall. No bullets, but I was cleaning up around a nice red, gettin ready to lay it down when I heard a noise. Turned around and there was a shiny new crossbow bolt with a broadhead stickin in the trunk! I was not pleased. Pulled it out and hollered over to freakin Robin Hood to keep his **** over on his own side of the road!
What's the next piece of PPE gonna be? A bullet proof vest?

Just the other day I noticed a shooting supply company that has a target that is a deer crossing road sign. I dont know if that's good 'cuz they would be shooton' up the real signs and endangering motorists, or bad because of it's teaching people to shoot at signs.
Two years ago I had to move my gun range that I had set up on BLM ground because people would see me shooting there and they would come later and use that area as well. They would also not pick up after themselves and generally leave alot of empties and trash. I picked it up for one last time and removed all traces of it and relocated my range to a more remote dry lake bed (it's easier to pick up when your all done). People cannot see me here so no one else uses it and leaves there trash behind. It bugs me to find shotgun hulls and brass all over. Let alone shot up bottles and cans left everywhere, and all manner of trash ventilated with hundreds of bullet holes.
