I have a digger derrick truck I am going to sell. On the front of it is a good size hydraulically driven winch. If I take off the winch I don't think it will decrease the value of the truck. It will however be a good bit of work to take it off and mount it on the front of the other truck. Also the hydraulic lines, valve etc are bound to cost 500-1000 dollars. It will stick out the front of the truck probably 30 inches. I think it will look fine but in some of those tight yards it could be a pain. Any thoughts appreciated.

Do it, I wouldn't think twice about it. It will pay for itself. Make sure you use grade 8 bolts and change anything that looks sketchy, cable included, and make sure there is a thimble on the eye. I hope it has a greasable roller fairlead, if not, get one.

you may never need it but if you do and you didn't :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:

and ALL of our trucks have them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just check your pump to see what it's gpm is if it is close to you derick do it you will never regret it I am sure. One of those things you don't use every day but when you do you are sure glad you have it.

Thanks for the advice

I am going to do it. I have done some experimenting.....not exactly rocket science but I have found that if you run the pony motor and the main motor it doubles the flow. This makes me comfortable that i have enough flow...now to figure oout the valve situation etc. and not mess something else up.

That seems like a big project, I think you need to weld fame extentions and all that. My bucket has front and rear winches, only used the front once so far but it pulled that 31000 lbs out burried to the pumpkin, the thing is what to hook it to? I put my farmi winch with the dozer blade down on a stump that we had cut, just happened to be in line thank god otherwise I dont know what I would have done. Sure glad my stump guy didnt grind it the day before when I wanted him to, lol. I probably wouldnt have even needed the winch sinse the truck is 6 wheel drive however Smitty's put those gay a$$ simulators over my locking hubs-no wonder the 4 wheel dont work :monkey: , those are long gone now. Still gotta paint the wheels.

Hadn't thought of that....

Good idea. Could also pull out another truck. We seldom work in the wet yards but the other day an electric service could not be put back until we removed the tree so the yard was not important.
