I am looking at purchasing a small chipper.I have used the vermeer 600,and looked at the small rayco.Does anyone have any feedback on either of these units or any similiar chippers?I do a lot of rural property maintenance, trail work, and waterfront work that requires the chipper to fit into some tight places and the ability to pull it with a mule(utv). Thanks

I have one of these. That Morbark model is built a lot heavier than the Vermeer 6 inch or any of the other 25hp units that I know of. I think you are going to want a good axle and some decent sized wheels and tires to go off road with it.

I'd stay away from the Vermeer. The infeed is too small (6"x6") and you'll spend too much time cutting every fork before feeding it into the chipper.

Can't speak on the rayco.

I have a Bandit 65xl and am more than happy with it.

As long as it is not too hilly, I can move it with by Bombardier Traxter XT(500cc).

I used to own the vermeer bc600xl. Chips very nicely. Is very high centered though. The whole machine sits on a platform above the axle. Very narrow wheels, tips very easy. Not well suited to offroad use. Also it does have a very small opening and all branches will have to be side trimmed. Mechanically it worked well and did a good job though. Other designs are designed so that they have a lower center of gravity. Mike

I'm on my 4th vermeer bc600. I like the smaller size so I can take it off the truck and push it into tight spots. These chippers have done just fine for me.

Don't buy anything until you've checked out Greenmech with the disc chip blades. I can't get one down here but they are on sale in the USA. A best seller in Europe. Designed and built by Tony Turner (of Bomford Turner that invented the Flail hedge cutter).

I had a 9 inch, and it chipped every inch of it which is more than can be said for the machine I'm using now. I know the 6" is very good too. It has three rows of three disc blades that can be rotated about four times before they need sharpening.

Check out the bearcat machines. I have a 6" machine with a 30hp kohler and it is very impressive for a little chipper. They make a 9" which is about the size of the bandit 6". Very impressive
