I've been working on an Excel Spread Sheet to help me estimate sawmilling jobs. I'm offering this as 'freeware' and asking for suggestions to improve/refine this tool.

I have included several text help items in the worksheets. The way it works is you enter the log small diameter and length on the Log Inventory worksheet. Total board feet calculation is automatically inserted into the calculation page. You enter/change your prices/fees for various services/expenses and a running total is continuously updated at the top of the Calculation page.

This was made for MS Excel 2007 and can *probably* be used in Open Office.

This link is for older versions of MS Excel.

I'm already thinking I should have added a worksheet to help estimate time and consumable materials based on board feet. I should be able to estimate the number of blades, gallons of water or fuel and even days required to finish a job.

Naturally the number of blades required depends on hardness of the wood, grit, metal, rocks encountered etc but if a basic calculation says I need 20 blades and I own 15, I know I'm not prepared for the job...
