Since last year I had been trying to come up with new ideas for flip lines. I thought of many ideas including similiar to this one and drew one out with metal rings. After I drew it I thought of the same thing. Of course this could have been in the works for much longer but I know I had the same idea before it was out. Sh******t wish I had followed through! Anybody else ever do this? This has happened to me several times! Good thing is I now know for sure that I have good ideas:)

The Snakeanchor from ART serves as lanyard and anchoring device, it can be continuously adjusted thanks to the stitched intervals. The Snakeanchor can be installed open and used as friction device with pulley or biner in the desired length. It also can be installed in choking mode and continuously adjusted as well. Because of the tube shaped ring this procedure works much better than with any other tool known so far.

I saw this too recently, though I did wonder why it's such an innovation. Maybe I'm just not picture it's benefit/cost effectiveness. As far as I can tell you could make something functionally comparable with a piece of top and a metal ring. The differences being, loss of strength from knots(ring side could be spliced) and having to tie a midline knot such as an alpine butterfly as your adjustment.

Am I missing something?

Now, upon reading your post again I am reminded of its use also as a flip line. My example could be used for that with a carabiner on the ring end(either end for that matter) and prusik on the other. Still though it seems clumsy (both my example and the snake anchor). What is the benefit of this new device?

No chance of it slipping like a prusik could especially if using it as anchor? Just another way to anchor a line. As a lanyard I agree, seems inefficient and clumsy when you could just use a butterfly knot and carabiner. I guess that's why I didn't try and create one. It does look cool though! but not the price: grin
