Gents, I'm contemplating getting the Stihl tool for the fitting of piston pin retaining clips. It's an unnecessary luxury I know but it sure makes it look quick and easy.
I'm mostly interested in the 1122 and 1124 saws, does anyone know if the 12mm one for 1122 will work for the 13 mm 1124? Stihl gives different part numbers.
Thanks

It does work, but I still just use needle nose pliers most of the time.

I just got a Stihl MS660 saw into my shop that had a locked up piston. Sure enough, one of the retaining clips had come loose, bounced around inside the combustion chamber, ruining the piston and jamming up the engine. I had a whale of a time just separating the piston from the cylinder. I might be able to save the cylinder, but the piston is toast.
