Man I'm tired of all this downtime. One day so far this week, two days last week. Got work for tomorrow, only 80% chance of rain.:(
I'm ready to get my arse up a friggin tree!:blob2:

Trims are what tears me up. TD aren't so bad.

A day or two ain't so bad, but all week trimming can be a PITA.

Oh well. I'll get all the rest I need when I'm dead. :)

Yeah trims are a body strain and a brain strain, more reaching, more pulling, more looking at past and future growth, more thinking. TD's are so much easier, no wonder most tree 'services' see them as the first option instead of the last.

One thing about Tree TD's though: you don't get the "extra points" that come from seeing the trees respond to a careful pruning job, root treatment, pest mgt...you know, tree care!:Monkey:

Work here? I had to put off 2 December jobs between weather and more urgent work. Glad they're willing to wait until I get to them before budbreak in March. Hope I get to everyone I told that! Depends on help; hard to find, harder to keep.

What downtime? We had tons of work, and now an ice storm hit....

All I wanna do is ski...or was.. as the snow levels are on their way up, so conditions won't be so primo.

Who wants to come work for us for a while?

If I don't get a few more hours here in the next few days I might just take you up on the Roger...but I'm sure it'll pick up soon.

I would and I may have a few others interested too.

If it will pay for the trip, i have a buddy in Bend, OR I've been plannning on visiting.

Would i be able to make it out there by truck?

Plenty of work here too, 12 local takedowns scheduled for the next 6 days weather permitting. Climbers are in demand here too with a few companies looking, I had to form an alliance with a few buddies to share equipment and climbers.

Hey Rog, we got our snow! A whole 2” of it.
Freeking cold though.

It was just an idea, guys. I was real lazy today..and sore from hucking cliffs yesterday. I'm not sure how much work there will be out there. Could be a lot, but it would have to be hustled up, as my phone has not rung. (There are tons of tree services out here)

Might be more work in Portland? Who knows though, there were more pwr outages here....

I have three good climbers besides these old bones..and a bunch more good guys available.

I'm down to around 12 hours a week right now. Mostly TD work so the money is good. Had a medium 3 stem ash today. Nasty basswood on Friday.

It was Mississippi weather this morning when I got up Two-below, but got up to near 20. Bright and sunny with winds around 5-10. Awesome working conditions!

Is that what you call skiing down those 80 degree slopes:eek: like in that (doctored?) picture? Man, our black diamond slopes would look sissy green to you guys out there.

They're all I want to handle though; I'm saving what's left of my body and knees for the trees.

So did your ice storms bust a lot of branches? do you ever leave stubs when they do, just to have a tree remain?

Heading for Better Form (Pruning if not Skiing)

8 Am? Bring the coffee and doughnuts.

I stopped eating that junk years ago.

Breakfast? 12 eggwhites scrambled, slapped over four pieces of cheese with three slices whole wheat, dry.

Wash it down with some orange flavored Metamucil... Mmmmm, GOOD!

Guy,

That was Brad dropping a 35-40 footer.Next time the landing zone is deep, he'll drop the right side, whcih is closer to 70 feet. There may be a hundred huckable cliffs at Alpental, probably more than any ski area in the country. The camera ain't tilted, that's fer sure. Our maritime climate allows snow to stick to near vert slopes. Alpental has loads of skiiable terrain with sections of over 50 degrees.

I dropped several small cliffs yesterday, 10 to 20m footers...it was an epic ski day. 1 to 5 degrees all day, super light powder.

I've only worked one ice storm. Didn't do much work from that one, but did have to hack one tree, and probably left some stubs. I'll bet that tree is a mess now, unless someone has been in it, that knew what to do.

Some stubs turn into beautiful branches. It's all about cutting back to the right nodes.:)

10' is about my alltime drop; won't be trying that again. 1' is more like it now.
