We have been milling lately and today we went back in and milled one eight foot hemlock log, we thought the grain was very nice so my better half would like a coffee table from this.

We still have one eight foot log down and ready to go, all the boards are 1.25 thick, attached are some pictures fom the start plus the wagon loaded up and heading back home.

We milled up five boards today with a long lunch break and just sitting in the woods listening to the brook plus the animals, the chipmunks are fat so this could mean a bad winter.

Sounds

Just listening to the sound of the water over the rocks and the birds makes you forget about all the crap that is going on, I'm hoping to get back in Sunday so I can mill up the other log.

When I'm cutting hemlock for milling that I bring to a friend to mill on his bandsaw , I try to stay around the 10" to 18" size . We have found that as you get bigger the greater the chances are that you end up with cracked lumber because of shake so don't go for the monsters because it usualy gets worse as you go up in size .

I'm taking the blowdown and topped off trees only, but I'll put that in the book.

Thanks
