here are some milling pics of the last time.

First few are of a Hackberry tree, nothing real special, it was just something I hadn't done before and the log was big and very round. Very light wood, which I can still make something out of, especially if I can incorporate the dark into it as well.

Also milled some Honey Locust. Had never done that before either but wanted to see what it looked like. Don't have any pictures of it being milled just some shots here after it was stacked. Looks like a real colorful wood if it stays that way after drying, can't wait to make something out of it.

Nice wood. Hope the hackberry stays flat for you. I tried a couple of logs and the boards just about tied themselves in knots. You won't be disappointed in the honeylocust. Once you get the thorns out, it's great stuff, though a little brittle. Odd logs-- hedge, sassafras, persimmon, mulberry, even an occasional redbud keep things interesting.

that's too funny. i've recently milled both of these species for exactly the same reason you did: curiosity. i also came to the same conclusion. hackberry is nothing special but i really liked honeylocust. very hard and a nice orange color. so far in drying honeylocust is behaving a bit like oak, very slow to dry. cool pics thanks for the post. :D

nice pics thanks for sharing!! the honey locust sells good so you might be able to make a lil coin and have enough wood left over for a project
