Hey all us East coasters. Here comes a Hurricane. They expect a C3 or more. Buy the gas, chains, oil, and files. I think with all this crazy weather we have had this summer we will have a nasty season.
Don't ya just love to climb a barber chair!!!

Just Curious

How many of you have a written Disaster Response Plan? We get a lot of severe storms here in Florida, so when something hits, the phone usually rings non-stop. We prioritize by giving established customers first response. Many people will just start calling everyone in the book and by the time we call back or get out to do the work, its usually done by the fly-by-nights. By focusing on our regular clients, we reduce wasted time and effort chasing cold leads.

I've found that in the real bad storms, if you team up with friends and concentrate on certain areas, you can really make things happen.

Many people will not be working, so hire a neighbor to answer the phone (if it works) and use a list to transscribe into a computer program.

The best print routine I've seen for work orders is based on ZIP, then broke down into areas using roads and rivers to set boundries within the zip. 53224 is 224100 west of 91st street and south of Goodhope rd 224200 east of it, there is a ditch running thrrough that is hard to get around so north of the ditch is 224225 or some such.

this way you can constantly update the routes, have work close by....answering the phone as is the best way to make the ultra high per man hour rate work whaile there is a sence of urgancy to the work. Some storms that can last 2 days, others it can last 3 weeks. I've seen 120-150 per manhour, portal to portal.

But then if your real small, you can make it by sticking to a small area and working for the next house then the next....

Call me if there is a need for some climbers. I may be able to find people if the price is right :D

Thanks. The weather tool RJS supplied show the cane might drift N-NE. But if it does make landfall, New England id a direct hit.

Theres one or two left. The problem is that they are leaning over the UPS building.
