When you can't get the loader truck into the back-yard, here his son ! Our budget is tight & we let our imagination work overtime. Our back-yard brush & log loader. Lifts 4-5 ton in full upright position. Drags brush piles/logs out front for chipping or loading. Picks leaners off stumps(full upright) or over fences & walls. Loads logs, stumps or brush into the chip truck. Puts logs up front for loader, all with little or no lawn damage. Use as a wrecker when big trucks are stuck or big jack when a flat occurrs. Old '77 F-350 Ford,Dana rear-end/lots of x-tra springs/ no shocks. Engine 351/mod 400 w 4 speed,w/20 ton PTO driven winch/ 3/4 rope cable. Lift-beam ajustable from flat-out to full-upright 16 ft.lift. Good useful tool for the poor guys !

Just a little shade tree engineering, spare parts, welding/ burning & a lot of input from friends. Paid in full when completed. A very usefull thing. A money-maker !

I have the exact replica with a pto winch 400 +4Speed set up
to be a gin pole truck. I want to make adjustable gin with drill
stem for it! Hard to find the good pipe now a days all the scrap
has been sent to china!

We made ours with old, heavy beams ( scrap ) welded & burned holes in the uprights for easy ajustment. The long boom is 12 in. x 10 in. x 3/4 thick. end pulley is 12 in. diameter ( sturdy ). Goes from flat out to16 ft. full upright. Just chugs along while picking up tonage , slow & steady. A real back saver.
Got a 2in. cold rolled steel pin holding the beam in position.Cable or rope the brush, pick-up & bring to the chipper. You can't always get the log truck into the back yard.

Loader single axle?

Is the loader truck a single axle? I am in the process of getting something like that...I was thinking with a dumping box for chips and a removable top for the logs??? Any thoughts appreciated.

Lets see some pics of it in action. Looks like its in a great shape for its age!

Do you have a skid steer to get you into even tighter spots than that F350 will go?

I thought of taking my hope loader off my f500 and retrofitting it
to my 350. I have several one ton dana's, did you use leafs off other
trucks to beef the axels, or buy add a leafs? I will try to get out and take
a picture of it tomorrow. I bought new tires and brakes and it has set
ever, since. It seems I have too much to keep up with at times, but
I like those old fords!

to Garfield : complete truck weighs in about 6400 llbs. F-350 ford originally a 1 ton unit. Remember no shock absorbers/just springs piled up. Rough rider over speed bumps.

outriggers

Would fabricating a beefy slip jack under the corners of the truck be worthwhile ? Some foot that drops down from the truck to the ground and is adjusted by a pin. Might be hard to get them back up in they had down force on them. I would say use a cranking tongue jack but I think they would break.

Very nice old Ford, be proud of it, if you asked me I would tell you to wax it.

to ropensaddle : stacked -pinnned & added x-tra helper springs , larger & longer u-bolts on springs to axle.

No treemandan , I never operate it on slopes & I always leave the log close to the ground while moving. I would like to add an open box where you could stick one end of a log during transport. It'll pick up a 16 ft.x 36" oak log & easily back into the truck for loading. Right now my son guides the back of the log, keeping it straight, during loading. I've got 12" of stacked springs, no shocks.
