I got a good deal on an almost new Echo CS-8000.

Has anyone had one modified?

Midsize? I think more big size. Thats the 2nd from the top in the USA Echo line up. No i never rodded one yet...Bob

the 8000 is the largest current echo. i have not done any performance mods to mine yet.. its not even in a condition to cut wood yet. but theres only 2 things left to replace on this poor thing.. the oil pump drive and a new clutch drum.

she aint pretty.. this is an ebay saw that im losing my arse on.. it needs a LOT of work! they said it runs great.. well the engine itself does run great.. but the clutch was destroyed.. clutch drum was so cracked and broke up you could wiggle it enough to stick a cigarette but between the shoes and the drum..

once its done i will be doing a bit of experimenting on it.

I guess the reason I called the 8000 a midsize is that my main saw is a Stihl 090 with a 42" bar. (137cc.) Then there is my 075, just a bit smaller engine, but with a 42" bar.

Bob W. I bought a little refurb CS 346 last night at Home Depot for $180.00, thanks to a 10% discount coupon I got in the mail from them! Like new with full warranty!

Didn't know about the 116 size Echo!

I have noticed the lack of h.p. and r.p.m. ratings in Echo specs. Do you have any insider
information on the power of the 8000. It seems that it should be about like a Stihl 046
in power, and it weighs-in a little heavier, so it should be tough in construction, too. :blob5:

Whacha say?

Here's another Echo link for all the product's not available in the US. I have sent some emails asking some questions but they have not been answered yet. But i am going to be on the updated website when it is made with my fleet of Echo saws. I did manage to get some tee shirts and hats along with a fancy key ring from them for free. :) I only had to buy a couple grand worth of saws. So my wife say's...LOL. All the contact's i had when i was a service guy are old ones. Heck the guy's are prob selling Husky's now...Bob http://www.echo-jpn.com/products/index.htm

CS-8000 mods

I've had two of them done at Greffards shop. They now turn 15,400rpm's no load. With the stock 36" bar, full comp chisel bit chain and cross cutting a 34" dia. fir log it turns 7000rpm's and cutting nice. When I sent them to Dennis I told him I wanted a very workable (not limited time use) saw that would keep up with a stock 066 magnum. It surpasses that request. Good job.
