Another wood I milled on my trip was a spalted curly maple. It was a water maple that had blown down in a storm, and the township cut it up to firewood lengths & piled it up. I used my 460 with a 24" bar to noodle rip the wood into slabs, then resawed the slabs on a table saw. Here's 3 of the turning blanks:
I stabilized these 3. They are 1.5" x 13". Only about 200 more to go. They range in length from 13" up to around 20-22", and all are curly and spalted, some even burled. Need to make a larger vacuum chamber to do numerous pieces at a time. As good as spalt or curly either one get I'll never want for spalted curly maple again in my lifetime.
