My saw did not start after a 15 minutes of cutting up a tree. Checked plug and had no spark. Changed the plug and started up on first pull. Ran a tankful of gas , filled it up and same thing, no spark. Changed plug and fired up.
Does anybody have any idea what could be causing this? Do I have a vacuum leak? I use the same gas in other saws and have no problem with them.

Try putting one of the old plugs back into the saw when it is COLD. If it starts you need an ignition coil.

yes... likely you have a failing ignition. The good news is that if you are the original owner, the coil has a lifetime warranty.

New coils are about $100. Used coils are all over the map but around $30 is common. If it has failed, you just need the 0000 400 1300 coil that is found in many Stihl saws.

Thank you. Yes it starts when it's cold with the old plug. Looks like I'll be buying a coil.
Thanks again!!!

You dont have to buy a new coil. Take the saw to your dealer and he should outfit your's with a new coil absolutely FREE OF CHARGE!!! Stihl has a lifetime warranty on their ignition coils.

Only if you are the orginal owner.
