Anyone have advice as to whether Ice or Bee Line will be a better match for Samson blue streak (actually BRW) when tied as a VT? Thanks.

I use both bee line and HRC. Both work great and are easily spliced. I have never used the ice.

Beeline is a much firmer rope than Ice (Tail). Splices in the Beeline will make it even stiffer, not so much when installed into Ice Tail.

I imagine that your preferences for how you like to tie in will be much more important than what rope you are hanging from.

I've been climbing with a 10mm Bee-Line since switching over from the 5/16" Ice Tail. I prefer the 10mm Bee-Line for it's added stiffness and larger size. For me the larger cord is easier to manipulate with gloves on. The Ice-Tail just seems a little too mushy for me. I've installed the Ice-Tail on my backup flip line as an adjuster and climb with the Bee-Line exclusively.

If you must climb on BRW then I'd switch to tenex, it runs alot smoother because its slightly larger. I've run Ice and beeline on my lava and velocity lines and they are great but for half inch, you'd be better sticking to tenex.

The reason I'm asking is that I have been using a 10mm Beeline tied in a Distal and it seems to get pretty tight (to take up slack, even sometimes to descend). Research indicates a VT remains a bit more neutral while still secure.

I'm going to try a 30" piece if ice tied as a VT to see if it's a bit easier to manipulate.
