I need a good set of Spurs i can call my own. i was looking at the gecko's crabon fibre space age lighter then air and so on, any one tried them out? im kind of parsial to the aluminum caps which is what i used at my last company.

cheers

borrowed a pair for a big take down i had on monday and they are awesome ....a lot of people dont like the gaffs and to be honest i thought i would not either but they where so much more limb walking friendly than my bashlins and the most comfy spikes ive ever worn........ill be buying a pair at the next show i go to !

i was talking to a guy and he was saying something about them coming with "european gaffs" which i was to understand were just a bit shorter then tree gaffs but he was also saying that they started to make standard tree gaffs for them once guys started to complain.

im going to vermeer tomoro to pick up a set, one or the other, so ill let you know what i find out

It depends on how much you are in them, If i is several days a week then they may be worth it. Titanium too.

Though I know a few people TD big trees every week who went back to the aluminum standards because of wear and comfort issues. More of what they grew up with.

Geck'o are awesome, I bought mine after using a friends. He had the euro tips, very easy to sharpen but careful not to spike your rope as the tips are broader and can damn near cut a rope in half after a fresh sharpening. I know this because I lost 20' off a new split tail line this way, #@$@ ! All that said, 6 hours on a takedown, finishing up with 385 and still comfy. Oh, I bought the american tips and personally like them better, old school.
