Got a job coming up with some TALL pin oaks and no way am I lugging my ass up these things DRT. I have a pantin and hand ascender that sit in my bag doing nothing so what are you guys using as an access line? I'll work off a VT and hitch climber setup.

Bluemoon does well srt and ddrt and is pretty static compared to others. I'd save on the rope (assuming u have a few already) and pick up a hybrid device like the hitch hiker or rope wrench with your setup might be easiest to just add on. If your not using a toothed ascender for life support than you can use pretty much use any rope with a hybrid device and it'll just come down to personal preference as far as how much stretch u want in ur rope.

Ya I've been thinking about trying oht a rope wrench but feel like if I'm guna go to SRT I might as well move to a more "modern" rope as I climb on Arbormaster. I'm not sure how id feel because I'm very comfortable with my setup as of right now.

You'll get comfortable on your new setup as well. I started on the hitch hiker with arbormaster and it worked fine just bouncy. I had the same idea as u so I got on bluemoon on other's recommendations. That, tachyon, vortex, cougar blue are all popular enough for srt prob for a reason. I don't care for kernmantle type ropes and I hear kernmaster is more bouncy than some 24 strands. I just prefer a rope that'll do double duty

What's wrong with Arbormaster? I use Arbormaster for both SRT & DRT climbing. Since I have two Arbormaster climbing ropes, I ascend & descend on one, and use the other for DRT once I'm in the canopy. I also use SRT with a Petzl I'D as a back-up while spiking up a removal, and use the running end as a secondary tie-in while blocking down.

Just rope walk on your tail/ddrt. Pantin on one foot, ascender with foot loop on the other. Hella easier than hip thrusting.

Blaze is cheap and works great srt and ddrt. It's very easy to splice also. I'm currently climbing on Yale Aztec and srt practically everything.

Blaze seems to be very popular. I just acquired a Unicender. Any ideas on how to set this thing up for SRT? I was considering one of those over the shoulder bungees. I have an Ergovation so how one of the chest harness SRT things for it?

Not sure haven't gotten to play around with a setup yet. Maybe today I'll get a chance to mess around with it. I just been using the uni ddrt on my 20' lanyard just to get a feel for it.

I use a setup I kinda made up with the guy at my local arborist shop. I put a long webbing slong around my shoulders lime a chest harness and clip a micro pulley to it. I then have a distel tied on my climbing line and clipped to my bridge. I use a pantin and as I pull myself up the micro pulley on my chest advances my hitch. Definitely better then ddrt for long ascents but I'm sure it's not the best way.
