Thinking ahead to working in various locations and people, I would like to be equipped with a capable hand held radio (TX/RX) that is most likely to be compatible with other crews - whom I may have not met prior. Does such a communications device exist? Would it need to be digital/analogue capable?
In terms of safety features - is there a version with 'the red button' such as I have seen on marine VHF units? (in that marine case, hitting the emergency button will flash distress signal & GPS coordinates to US Coast Guard. Luckily I have never needed to reach for it). This feature might provide an added safety layer - say where you are alone but still need to get a message out urgently.
I have just ordered a proper logging tool belt. While I wait for it to ship, I am thinking of the things that should be on it.
