Got that right. Some days I start at 7, when the kid starts school. Other days I start at noon or after, if the weather ain't right or if there are other things to do. As long as you don't pull no-shows to your clients, your time should be your own.

0830 hrs, most of the time. And yea, set hours bite. The only 'set hours' I have are that I don't work that many of them in a day! :D

Don't wanna get too rich too quick! Gotta stay humble...

MB,
worked 7.30-4.30 for 13 years can't ever imagine doin' it again.would give me nightmares:blob2:

hmm usual work hours what are they :) i usually arrive about 8am have a coffee and a chat, get all the kit for the job then make my way to the job. finish time is when the job is done.....of late finish times have varied from midday to 2:30 pm .........i like my life style

I prefer somewhat set work hours. The guy who I was working with last week starts at 8:00 / 8:15 and stops normally by 4:30. He knows what he can get done in a day, and schedules jobs accordingly. The guy who I will be working for, for the next couple of days gets his guys at 7:00 and lets them go at 5:00. His personal hours are a lot longer than that. I believe that he is usually out of his house by 6:30 AM and doesn't get home until like 5:30 - 8:00

When I was working for myself, we would start at 9:00 and get back by 6:00. I liked that, because with that mind set you aren't coming home at 10:00 PM because you went and filled up tanks, or you went and fixed this, or what have you. I personally remember one night when I didn't get home till after 11:00 PM because I had been out all night working with a backhoe I rented to push fill off a cliff. Got home from dinner around 1:00 AM. No good

7:30 to 4:00, lunch from 11:30 to 12. We are currently pushing the possibility of 4 ten hour days. That way if we get rained out one day thru the week, it can be made up on friday.

show up at shop @7:30 and start the saws and chipper around 8:45-9:15...can't wake up all the city folk all too early:rolleyes:

I cant say but I'll tell ya this today was a 14 hr day. Then had PT so that leaves about 2 hrs free time to post to this board eat, etc. before i have to go to sleep. But I dont have to work tomm. WOOHHOOO I'm off work.
I tell ya guys this I sure hate a concret jungle. I miss my tree work and my sharp saws. Nothing like fresh air at 8 am. and 80 feet. Knowin youll be home by 2 pm. with major cash in your pocket.

I start at 7 Mon-Friday. Got to go to school and all. Then work from 2:30 till whenever, usually dark 30.

Saturdays i get up around 7-8 depending on how much has to get done.

When it's light out and has wormed up enough, or cool enough to start. Depends on the season. 4 hours in the am, hour for lunch, 4-5 hours in the pm maybe more in the summer.

I'm too old for these 12 hour work through lunch jobs. I need real money for that.

I want to find me a resteraunt for a sitdown meal and a clean restroom. Maybe a nap under a tree in the summer.

we are at the office at 7:30, try to hit the job site by 8-815, 1/2 hr lunch round 12, quit anywhere 4-530/6. This is usually 4 days. friday sometimes quit early if we have our 40. its hard to pay bills working 20 hrs a week.

Sats are RARE. storm work is about the exception.

There is a noise ordinance in Denver and we cant start up saws before 0800. In an ideal world it would be nice to have ropes set and every thing ready so we could let er rip at 0801 but that rarely happens, I just started working with an early bird groundie and the knuckle head called me at 0529 this morning wanting to get an early start. My girlfriend is still peaved about that.

:Monkey:

when contracting start time is 7.30 with finish at 5.30. Okay we turn up at the yard at 7.30, talk crap, drink coffee etc. Lucky to get out at 8, Glad I dont own the company! For myself I like to get started early, most jobs can be started with a handsaw and its good to beat traffic. I work til the job is done or I have decided Im done.

Everyplace I ever worked we started at 0700, except one where we had to be out of the yard by 0700 to beat the traffic. The one place I worked through the winter we started at 0800 Nov-Mar because of the darkeness.

Start at 0730, done at 1600, unless it would be really stupid to have to go back up the tree the next day. One half saturday a month working on a native forest restoration project.

JPS, I'm with you on that nap under the tree after lunch on summer days. There is nothing quite so idyllic. I even have fond memories of particularly satifying naps!
