First day on my new crew. The boss requires every climber to have his own gear and climbing saw. They do not provide climbing saws in this company. They do however absorb all maintenance and repair costs to the saw seeing how you're using it to make them money. Well I'm happy that I picked up my MS200T, because owning one is almost a company requirement. That and my foreman wouldn't have let me leave the ground with an Echo CS-340. LmAo!! Well just wanted to share my excitement with my comrades...talk to yall soon.

Just curious , is he paying you as an independent contractor? that the reason for having your own gear?

That's cool, Tony. I'm guessing it's a bigger organization? I guess you need to start saving for your back-up 200. It's always good to have one to fall back on, especially with your new job. Maybe you'll see stuff now you haven't seen yet.

Good luck!

i hope your foreman isnt serious about the echo cs-340. that is the best saw for pruning. lightest with plenty of power for the basic pruning diameter. if the want you to use your own saw you should be allowed to use a poulan if you like it, as long as all the safety parameters are met.

So does this company require you to have a new (ish) saw? or could you work with a used 200T or even better use a high performance modded saw? I would love to see the bosses expression if you made a fast cut with one of my 200T's;) ;)

Congragulations on the new job. Good luck and hope everything goes well. A queston that always pops into my mind. Why do some companies require you to use your own gear and provide you with a climbing saw, some require you to provide your own gear and saw, and some provide you with everything. Me personaly, I'd rather use my own gear and saw. That way no matter where you work you always know what your climbing on and you always know your saw. When you use your own gear the company you work for should pay for maintance on your saw and help replace your gear when it wears out. Especialy if your making them money and most of the wear on your gear is comming from their job. Which a experianced climber should have no problem doing. just a thought.

im happy for you congradulations!!!! you have a job you like it - although i have no idea what the tech names are but stick saws? your in a ny co gonna be in a inion right? depends on whou tour with they are all the same basically hubby is in a nj union thats why hes laid off! but im really really happy for you as long as youre asfe and enjoy it!

Hmmmm I believe I'm the only Tree service around here that uses MS200 The local shop doesnt even stock them anymore. The owner told me all the rest of the companies got tired of replacing a 500.00 saw because it got dropped from a tree or bucket. There all using 017's Now.
