Hello Hotsaw Gal, to answer your question , it all depends on what the saw is and how much compression it has, I know out here on the east coast most guys run as large of diameter as they can to help with the cold start , it is along winded reason for this put the short version is you only want 2 wraps of the rewind pulley and with the bigger rope you will start with a bigger pulley diameter so you can start to turn your motor over easier in the beginning
