I was for some strange reason thinking about shark fishing today and came up with the (currently incomplete) idea of using a steel leader on the end of my climb line to make it saw proof. Well a lawyer would call that "saw resistant". Problem is, it would work fine on the dead end but on the live end (friction hitch side) it would obviously be no good. But hey, it would in theory reduce the chances of a saw induced fall by 50%. And maybe there actually is some way to do it on the hitch end...

Just thought I'd see if anybody'sever thought of this or tried it.

And yes, another way to prevent a fall is to not hit the line with the saw in the first place. Figured I'd say this now to filter out 50% of the replies right off the bat ;)

Friend on mine from California was telling me about crews cleaning up cliff faces and installing heavy fencing to contain falling material. He said the crew had steel leads on their lines. For our purposes it seems like to much. Was interesting though.

Cool. Yea it would be nice if we could implement it in our industry, or rather the industry I'm trying to learn. And you can, easily, on the dead side. It's just the friction hitch side would be tough.

edit: oops didn't see your last sentense about the chain treeco, sorry.

I got a good idea

How about being careful and not hitting your climbling line with a chainsaw.

:chainsaw:

i'm just going to say that anyways since it's the no brain choice here.

You're such an azzhat dude. LOL

Ya know plas i'm getting alittle tired of your trolley little ridiculous threads and remarks. Maybe you should stick to practicing climbing in your climate controlled warehouse. Atleast you won't have to worry about getting a chainsaw in your chest or cutting your climbing line.

N-E-W-B-B-I-E!
