yeah i was just kidding about the ether,if iwere you i would borow a compression tester warm the saw up well and test the compression anything below about 85 90p.s.i.will not run once it warms up,if your compression is good you are probably sucking air through the crankshaft seal,an easy way to test this is remove your clutch to access the crankshaft and with the saw running squirt some saw gas around the crankshaft seal area if your idle suddenly climbs you know it is sucking air wich if thats the case we part the saw out for we found its not worth splitting the cases...oh probably not the issue you are having with the saw but a cheap easy 'try to fix'that might be worth a shot is to replace the diaphram in the top of the carburator but that does not sound like what you got going on
