HI all

I have just been given one of these by my boss to repair ,but i dont know how old it is to get spares etc .
can anyone help ?

many thanks :greenchainsaw:

First you send it to me. And then you tell your boss it was stolen. :hmm3grin2orange: . There are a couple people on here who might have parts or tell you where you can find parts.

cheapstihlsawparts has a number of 090's , but most parts aren't listed. Email him though ebay. Some AS members have parts.

Post a picture, and/or a serial number.

What's wrong with it? Does it even need "parts"?

Awww, you don't want to fix that old piece of junk. Send it to me instead so I can "dispose" of it for you...........NO CHARGE!!!!!!!!!!

Lots of parts are actually available, they actually still sell its little brother (070) in some country's.

thanks for all the help !
the problem is lack of compression i have had a uv scan done on it and there are no cracks in the head so next stop piston and rings then fuel supply
we need to try to get it working as we have 20-30 figured yew to fell to go to france for venire so we cant cock it up so a few late night's for me :chainsawguy:

If it literally has no compression, or dramatically LOW compression...Id say a piston and cylinder are in order! That saw should have a MESS of compression.

Do you mean XRAY scan? UV deals with ultraviolet light, good for biogicals like protiens/DNA. An Xray will tell you what KIND of metal,maybe... also good for metalic compostists and such????

Maybe you mean , MAGNAFLUX???? A whole differnet concept???
Looks for cracks/holes imperfections in metal???

For a hole in a cyl/head that woud be the best......????

I figure he meant a fluorescent penetrant inspection of some sort. Where I used to work, we would take castings and dip them in a fluorescent fluid that would penetrate into cracks, including ones you couldn't see. Once you washed down the part, you could inspect it under a UV light and the cracks would stick out like a sore thumb.

Never heard of it applied to a 2 stroke cylinder, but then again I've never thought of one cracking like that. Any crack that would eat up that much compression would probably be easily visible.

Would magnaflux work on an aluminum cylinder?
