Got a brand new pruner, a super heavy duty jameson bigmouth. What kind of treatment can issued for the sticking of the blade. the spring seemed really strong but it was sticking alot lately. i gave the blade a touch up with a flat file. Do they break in once the steel wears down to the shinyness. the bar is anodized and seems to wear. like any new tool i guess it could use a little break in, tune and set. It's compound action a tiny amount more friction on the rope. It's been really , really super anoyying when im lined up for a pruner machine gun cut and my gun jams...and i have to shake it, wiggle the rope, slam the butt on the ground, knock it on branches..ughh..every time

I clean sap off my pruner several times a week, and spay it down with WD40. Sometimes the pull line gets expanded from use or the pulley gets smashed a little. Do you have the double pulleys? If so I bet that is where the problem may be. The big Mouth models of pruners never seem to snap back as easy. I use 8mm cordage on mine to minimize friction.
I have been using the same jamerson pole pruner for 12 years. Can't beat them. Beastmaster

big ol mouth

yea i got the bigmouth.double pulleys..a little smaller cord sounds like less drag..so does wd 40 its working good now just had to break it in and :snap" those cuts for the return..im not always in the perfect position and often a little branch or something will get stuck.(inbetween the blade and bar..)....:( ....holy smokes pole pruning is intensive on some of these chinese elms..absolute insaneness..just bought a HT101 power pruner for these small little compex and street trees we've been doing and i can really rip with it on fat low wood..mostly raising it up . I think i need a ladder next...whats a good size orchard ladder..i have atoyota but with a rack just over the cab, a 6'er would fit with the tailgate closed but a 16 is longer than my truck...whats a good in between a 14...a 10..i guess i'll just go out with a tape measure on the job and see where i wanna be at for typical sized ornamentals around here..
