Just cleaned up and rebuilt carb on older 015 project saw. Saw starts up and runs fine for about 30 seconds and then just dies. During the first 30 seconds I can run on high just fine also. When it goes back to idles then it dies. Won't restart until it sets for a few hours. Any suggestions on what to try or things to look for? :bang:

Mine acted like that when I first bought it.

The felt filter on the end of the pickup tube was restricted with sawdust that had gotten into the tank.

It would start, run for a short time then die. If you would let it sit until some more fuel soaked through the felt, it would restart then die again after a short time.

Cleaned out the tank and washed out the felt filter and it is stihl:laugh: running great.

If you take off the filter, be real careful ... The fuel hoses aren't available any more and they break. Best to take it out though the side cover, not though the tank filler.

Is there a method to use other model fuel lines with other type fuel filters on the 015?

Thanks

Not really... you can use a later Stihl fuel filter, but you're pretty much stuck with the line. You can jury rig a connector into the old line if it breaks; the important part is where is goes though the case.
