Hello in there, I bought a nice 020AVP today and mixed and matched the parts with an 020AVP Super in order to get one good saw. Aside from the handles and oil drive plastic gear, the saws were pretty much the same. The Super was solid state, while the 020AVP had points.
My question is: the carbs were identical except one had no LA screw (throttle adj.). Why is this, and how am I to set the idle speed? I could change the carbs, but prefer not to dismantle if I dont have to. Are the linkages different lengths to compensate for no LA? The saw runs fine but stalls at idle regardless of the L setting. Also, are spur sprockets or rims still available for this saw?
These two saws appear to have little in common with the 020T.
Thanks in advance,
John

Oops, one was an AV Super the other was an AVP. I guess the AVP designates Anti Vib Professional which has the black plastic rear handle. I took the handle off the Super AV and put it on the AVP. Hope I didnt confuse the sichiation.

its a metal rear handle. I got one.

1/4" pitch chain or 3/8" lp

Yes both sprockets along with bars are available.

Thanks Jim, I dont know what I would have done without you.
The saw pictured is an 020AVP with an 020AV Super handle.
The handle on the AVP is plastic.

Anyway, I got the carb thing figured out, both have idle screws but they were in different positions. One allowed access thru the body of the saw and the other didnt.

I can see all 3 of my screws.

Good running saw, thats for sure. Too small to use for much of anything, but works for cutting lumber and plywood. Even did the trim in the house :D

020

When you repalce the carb, you have to drill another hole at the tank seam in line with with the mix screws. I made a template so it would come out right.

Hey, I know this is an old thread, but do you still have that avp handle? Broke mine the other day. Dropped a limb on it. I know, I know, the saw is not supposed to be under the limb! I stuck it and when I cut the limb off with my other saw, the 020 dropped out and beat the limb to the ground.
Rope? Did I tie the saw off with a rope? Of course I did! What you think I'm stupid? But, I tried to raise the limb and unstick the saw. I used the rope to pull up on the limb. I forgot to retie the other end. DUH :censored:
