I have a stihl 021 that burnt the main bearing. I have the whole thing disassembled except the clutch assembly. I don't want to force it. Is this a job for a wheel puller or unscrewing? right or left?

thanks for your help.

It unscrews RIGHT (i.e. reverse thread). Take out the plug, move the piston until it's above the exhaust port, and coil some 3/8 nylon rope in the cylinder. This will block the piston and enable you to remove the clutch.

DO NOT PUT A wrench on the flywheel end and clutch end in an attempt to remove the clutch...

thanks

thanks for the quick response. i'll give it a try. the bearing on the lower end of the rod is gone. I hope I don't score the crank. I'm going to pad it with a piece of leather.

anywhere I can get a schematic of the 021?
