I had another thread started but after I was informed on my choices....THANKS, I have decided to go with a 026. Saw must be clean unless its super cheap and I can build a beater saw out of it. Im not saying I wouldnt go with a 024 but the price would have to be right. Post up what you got with prices please. If you have pics and can txt them my number is 9036381916. Thanks. Mods feel free to remove my other thread on the 024.

It may be good to know how much you want to spend...Not saying that is a must here but at least it
gives some the opportunity to know whether or not to put pictures out etc. Hope you find what you
are looking for.

Im not predjudice to price. The right saw I would pay more for. A beater that needs work....$100 bucks give or take depending on what it needs. A nice clean one a couple hundred up to $300 or even more depending on how nice it is. And thats not in stone.

With that price range in mind you should have no trouble finding a good saw, just be patient. I see a nice 024 in my local CL for $175, and a nice 026 for $275, they come around often.

If you go with the 024, try to find the AVS(super) a bit more torque/stroke.

Bring your T27 torx driver with you, takes about 30sec to remove the muffler cover and get a good view of the piston. It would also be nice to have an adjustable H jet on the carb. Some come with fixed H jets, but the carbs can be changed out.

Don't know what you are looking to buy but...

It was pulling 165-170 psi with new meteor piston and rings. looks pretty good/clean, plastics are very nice with very few blemishes (no names or numbers scratched into saw anywhere) not stellar but not beat to hell either. I just fired it up last night and it sounds great! Muffler modded and a wt194 fully adjustable carb and the older style 44mm piston and cylinder that have better port timing. I also put the non-adjustable oiler on this one; I like them better b/c they pump lots of oil and you have no chance of a stripped worm gear since the worm is metal! Pictured with new 16" carlton brush champ bar, but I have other bar and chain lengths/pitches. Also you may notice that the recoil cover isn't one that reads "ms260" on it. It came off a 026. I have the ms260 recoil but it needed to be rebuilt and i didn't have time when I put it together.

Nathan is a trusted knowledgeable seller so don't hesitate.
Thanks Tim... havent seen you in a while!
Tim, have you seen or know of any good wood furnaces down by you? I have to put in "professionally made by manufacturer" stove in my shop of insurance doesn't cover me...

10-4, check for the 3 adjustment screws on the carb. SOme have a missing "H-jet" screw and they are terrible to tune especially with even a light muffler mod. I'd also check compression on it. If it's 145-150 or higher you should be good. to go. I know this series saw really really well...

Cool, I just talked to the guy in town with the 026 and suppose to go check out tomorrow. Ill post up here on the outcome.
