Selling an o'l 026.

I bought it at a farm auction a couple years back, and have burnt a dozen or so tanks in it since then.
Seems doggy to me, but then I'm comparing it to 346xp's.
Takes between 15 and 30 yanks to get it to start after it sits a few days.
Piston looks great to me.
I don't own a compression tester so no reading on that.

$225 plus the ride.

Looks pretty clean! Alot better than the 028 I just picked up. Good luck

the bottom side of the saw appears to have adjustable oiler screwdriver access molded in the casing
Most have that access hole but IIRC that case was also used for the 026 pro that had the AO. Both my regular 026's had the hole but not the AO.

I know, just looking for an original 026 Pro saw.
Those are getting hard to find. I went the 034 route being they take bigger parts on the pto side and pay little penalties in weight. In the process of assembly moving forward on some updates to make them more parts friendly and get rid of those ancient time filters 026 or 034 had. Updating the air inlet systems from the cylinder up is a game changer on these 1125 models.

What is the latest and or best updates on the air inlets on these models?

Change everything from the cylinder up to bigger intake boots to fit a bigger carb. The carb updates are everywhere. Doc does it on many of his builds. He uses 044 or 045 intake boots. Updating the filter to a Vstack is currently the only options I've found for 024/026 models. Changing out the tankhandle is required and some other changes for 260 parts I'm told. Haven't gotten all the way duwn that rabbit hole yet. If this next 1125 conversion works I could offer a kit to update 1125 to much better intake systems. 024S/260 models I do not have a tankhandle update besides the 260 stuff. That isn't worth the cost for just a bit more media area. It needs to be doubled on modified or ported cylinders. 034 wouldn't be much of an update. You could try the 038 filter without a top cover. I didn't check on the choke alignment so try that if you're hunting for more flow with out of the box bolt-ons. Not sure if the 360P filter has the older type of choke rod. If so consider that filter with a cutout cover. Those were slotted twist lock.

the newer 036 filters have front flocking, and rear side mesh.
on the compenating carb models

Moving to a better filter AND getting the choke out of the filter would be nice. Of course, that's a MS261.
This is why a change to a new type of control lever needs to get the tankhandle change. That always drives the nail in the coffin. Having a separate choke lever still does not get rid of the poor inlet angles these have designed into the filter itself.
