Stihl 031 AV

How do you tell the Stihl 031 AV and the 031 AV & the 031 AV Electronic apart? How do you get to the points on the 031 AV? I want to adjust the Points if my saw has them.

Take off the starter and look at the flywheel. There are two plastic windows to clean and adjust the points. Don't try to take off the flywheel, as the cam is on the flywheel anyway.

To add to the post by HarleyT : there are 2 white plastic jellybean shaped covers on the visible face of the flywheel once you remove the starter recoil assembly. each will have a slotted screw to loosen. The plastic clips on the underside of these covers are usually brittle from heat and age so be gentle. Remove one cover and rotate the open window over the points located around the 12 o'clock position.
