Stihl 031AV died s out at High RPM

My 031AV started acting strange, it wants to die out under load or high RPM, thought it was old gas because I changed it and it seemed to run through a full tree then started acting up again, the silly thing will sit and idle all day, I cleaned up around the carb and blew through both jets. Same deal..I pulled the gas cap and ran it with it loose, same deal.. Seems like it starves for fuel under load or higher revs.. Ideas??

My guess based on a bunch of these I fix... Inlet screen of Carb. Probably digested one of the old sponge fuel filter inserts and packed it's residue in the carb. Time for a carb rebuild... and change the fuel filter...

...and maybe your fuel line - check both the In-tank and external lines for leaks.
