The story goes like this: My son scored a pair of Stihl 031av's recently from an older
gentleman (a true gentleman I might add) that were used very lightly, put aside and
when needed again could not be started. He then bought saw #2 and the result was
more or less the same except he took it apart, bought carbs, clutch etc. (have all extras)

First saw and older of the two is near perfect, in fact I believe the original old school Stihl bar is
on her (although I am no expert like the fellas all over AS). It is such a nice saw I just don't ever
see myself using it. I think it should be put on a shelf and admired. It has the case which is what I
strongly believe to be early case used by Stihl but no name imprinted on it (saw # 2 has same case)

He got her to idle and idle she did (oiler worked as well) - last time we halfheartedly tried we could not.
With others to tinker with she sits. I would love to paint muffler but want to leave it stock (we did order
fuel line though) - He wants me to keep it because he sees how much I love the look of it yet to fund his next
purchase, tools so forth I think selling it makes sense. So here I am, new AS member with a nice example
of this particular model saw on the trading post.

I have never sold anything in this manner before. It's worth is unknown to me. So while I have a general
idea what it's value may be, to a collector perhaps a tad more. I will attach pictures and answer all questions
as best I can. I live in Connecticut and would love to sell locally but that's not likely to be a big market.
Keep in mind it will be funding my 15 year old son's interest in saws/tinkering/business. If in the tristate area
come on by for a beer and chat, see her for yourself.

*btw - new chain in that box is 3/8 with a gold link. Not sure if it's original to saw. Sure looks mean though.
It should be noted I've only cut with green link (homeowner) chains over the years
**Also have almost perfect owners manual not pictured that the owner found and mailed to me.

Like always, if a saw peaks my interest, it's on the other side of the U.S. The one with the case is one pretty saw but I had better turn my head. I'm in AZ. so shipping alone would beat me to death. Nice saws!

Hello Hinerman!

Like Redoakneck states in the thread they are more for lookin at...I don't really know. Trying to get a fair price
so my son can fund his hobby. So far I'm doing all the buying. I will entertain all offers. 031-032's go for around
100-200+ depending on season here in Connecticut, they are well used though. Miss America is so pretty and has a few
added items (case, manual, new chain + box)...what do you think I should ask? I know shipping adds to it but for a saw guy
looking for a nice example it would be hard to beat this 031. She has a sister which is nearly as nice too. Ebay looms as it would
hit a huge audience. If you have any input I would love to hear it. Is upper 300's out of line?

If you do ebay it post the auction link.right now I could pick one up (not near as nice) in a case with a parts saw for $100.of course there is a 019 and a homelite included.I kind of like the 031/032's but just cant see payin much for them.just me though.I go crazy over mcculloch's those are what I grew up around.yours is a different story.its what someone is willing to pay.im sure most of the guys here dont want to offend you with a low ball offer.
What I would do is have a reserve price set here (its free to sell here ebay costs big $$$ now days) do some figuring. Take the fees away from your reserve and just use this post as an auction.also if you want to give back to the community consider a donation to the good causes on the board here instead of giving to ebay.;) Just ideas here.

I hope to give back Jug. Folks here have been real nice with every single question I've asked regarding
my sons tinkering answered 10 x's over in a flash. Being of modest means I have to recover some outlays
in order to foster his interest and keep the ball rolling. Need to sell a couple (did keep 026 $30 find he got going
with PLENTY of help from AS) - "dad I need pressure gauge" "dad I need a vacuum tester" You get the idea.

Funny, for 35 years I had my beloved 028AV Woodboss and cut all kinds of wood...one saw. I do admit I like
having all these saws in garage and find myself messing around more and more with em'...this CAD you guys
talk about is real!

Your the first on here to call me jug.lol thats acctually what they call me around here.lol except the guys I work with that call me sasquatch. Lol.
Just throwin the givin back to the board thing out there.I know how it is.got a 15 yo step daughter.took her fishin for a few years but just discovered boys.spent my time and money on bait now I got to spend it on ammo and bull calf bands.

Hello Hinerman!

Hello Boozer. I have no idea what they are worth. If upper 300's is out of line I wouldn't know. If you price them too high, the price police will chime in. If you price them too low, the vultures will swoop in :) Remember, you can always come down on price but going up---not so much. Maybe somebody will chime in and give you a little help. Good luck with your sale.

Thanks for the input Hinerman. The saws been up for a few days and there is interest. May even try CL for
the heck of it and see, local sale makes it much easier. Going to a Stihl demo/competition has crossed my mind
should it come to that. We're talking about a relatively small amount of money so waiting is not a problem.
