Hello all,
Sorry to use space on this post, I am sure its been asked before, but i seached, and didnt find any answers. I have a 036 pro complete enigine (crankcases, flywheel, piston, jug, etc), and i have a worn out 034. Before i tore everything down, I was wanting to know if i can replace engine assembly of the 034 with the 036, and be good to go? Or is there a lot of things that wont bolt up? I know i have to do some plastic mods for the decompressor.

Thanks in advance,
Matt

I don't know about compatability but if you want a new 034 I can get you a NOS one new in the box.

Thanks, i know there isnt much difference in the 034 and the 036, but i am just going to tear into it, and see what happens. I am really not expecting a huge difference.

The real story is I came a across a super deal and got all the parts for the 036 pro very cheap, like less that $100 for the entire package, so thats really why I am making the change.

Thanks,
Matt

update

I think you will be hard pressed to find the part thst does not fit.
Common cranks and bottom ends. I would leave the cranks in their respective cases, that would be my only concern. May be better bearings in the 036. Same with flywheel and ignition.

Done! Parts that didnt fit..

Okay, the conversion of the ol' 034 super to the 036 pro is pretty much wrapped up! All I need is my new top shroud to come in, and the correct ignition side crank seal, and its ready to fire!

The only things i found that did not fit perfectly was the cad-plated cover that holds the worm assembly down in its bore for the bar adjuster. The 34 used 2 screws to hold the cover in place, and the 36 only uses one, like the 066's. So, I just used one of those instead. You could have ground off the top mounting tab, and it would have worked fine.

The only other thing that is off a little is the front muffler cover. The back bolted to the cylinder perfectly, but there is a gab of about 3/16 between the front cover and the crankcases...used the old washer-spacer trick there.

Other than those 2 things everything else was a direct bolt on woth no mods at all! I am ready to fire it up, tune it, and go!

Right now the only thing i wish i could change easily is the air filter, wish it had something like the 066's , and 044's do! As soon as I can, its getting the muffler walkerized too.
