Chain too tight? How much oil is it getting? At the time it's hot have you ever pulled it out of a cut, pointed the tip at a piece of cardboard( or a light colored part of the wood) and revved it to see if it's pumping oil at that moment? Are the bar rails and chain drivers galled and/or discolored?

May we assume you've checked and cleaned the port in the case and the bar?? I once had one clog up in the bar so bad the oil was getting out of the reservoir but backing up in sawdust and etc. beneath the sprocket cover and not getting into the bar groove. It's only happened once to me like that in thirty + yr. but that time the bar got pretty hot, too hot to comfortably touch near the edges.

the chain is wet with oil comeing out of any cut i make the fact that switching the bars did not help hakes me wonder the rails are fine the oly discoloring is around the bottom edge close to the saw on the stihl bar the chain had been tight and loose nither way changed the temp
