hey guys, i have a stihl 034 and was just wondering what i could do to make it run better. ive seen a few threads on muffler mods. is there anything else i can do to get maximum perforamce out of it? and could anybody post a pic on exactly how to modify the muffler? thanks alot, Zack

Well, you could put an 036 piston/cylinder on the 034. no need for a different muffler I dont think.

L M A O

just for the record, i still have my 034 and would not change a thing. it runs great just the way it is. i just got a faster saw in that class for stock competitions. after all, it out cuts the 034 super. lol

034

I did all my cutting with an 034, 20 inch bar, for years. If the saw is running correctly, you would not be looking for more power. What carburetor do you have?

What carburetor do you have?] not sure what carburetor it has, i dont know too much about saws except how to put gas and oil it and how to sharpen the chain, thats about it. its the original carb. did stihl put 2 different carbs on the 034's. thanks Zack

They used a Zama, and a Tillotson carb on the 034, depending on something or other that I dont know.

as far as replacing the top end of the 034 with the top end of a 036. you may need to open the bolt pattern of the jug and trim the base of the jug. you may also have to trim the piston skirts.

Why is it that the 034 seems to be a better runner than the 036?

I am still kicking myself in the a$$ for selling my 034 a couple years back. IMO, just as good as my current 036 PRO.

Great upgrade chainsawworld!!! LMAO!! :blob2:
